Basil and Mushroom Stuffed Shells with Tomato Sauce Recipe

This tasty and simple dish is ideal for a cozy weeknight dinner or a weekend family gathering. It's flavorful and filling thanks to the combination of basil, mushrooms, and tomato sauce. The jumbo pasta shells are stuffed with a creamy ricotta cheese mixture and baked until golden brown.

  • Prep Time: 30 minutes
  • Cook Time: 35 minutes
  • Total Time: 1 hour, 5 minutes

Instructions

  • Cook the pasta shells according to the package instructions.
  • Set aside after draining.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  • Combine ricotta cheese, basil, mushrooms, parmesan cheese, egg, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl.
  • Fill each cooked pasta shell halfway with the ricotta mixture.
  • In the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of tomato sauce.
  • Arrange the stuffed shells on top of the tomato sauce in a single layer.
  • Distribute the remaining tomato sauce over the stuffed shells.
  • Bake for 25 minutes with the baking dish covered in foil.
  • Remove the foil and bake for 5-10 minutes more, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy.
